Exterior
The 2025 Subaru Forester has been updated with a modern, yet still boxy exterior that enhances its iconic look. The wheelbase is unchanged, but the total length is slightly increased by 0.6 inches to nearly 15.3 feet. The ground clearance remains at 8.7 inches. Standard features now include LED lighting and aluminum wheels, with wheel sizes varying between 17 to 19 inches. Roof rails come standard except on the base trim, and a new foot-activated hands-free power liftgate is available as an option.
Interior
The 2025 Subaru Forester seats five and retains the same dimensions for legroom, headroom, and cargo space as its predecessor, offering 43.3 and 39.4 inches of legroom and 40.2 and 37.6 inches of headroom in the first and second rows respectively. It has 26.9 cubic feet of dedicated cargo space, expanding to over 69 cubic feet overall. The cabin has been redesigned to reflect recent updates seen in the Impreza and Crosstrek, featuring standard dual-zone automatic climate control. The top trim includes heated, cooled, and power adjustable front seats.

Powertrain
The updates to the powertrain are minor, with all models retaining the 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine from the previous Forester generation. The engine now produces slightly lower performance figures at 180 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, but the impact on driving is negligible and comes with improved fuel efficiency. All models are equipped with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a Lineartronic CVT, and SI-Drive.
